Training

ABAlink runs training workshops provided by their respective Service Providers for individuals who are interested in becoming ABA Therapists, Shadow/Teacher's Aides and "Super" Sitters. Individuals we seek primarily are  psychology students, teachers and those working with children with special needs.

The courses available are:

ABA e-Learning Introductory Training - Level 1

Student therapist competency modules combine ABA theory as well as role play exercises. Students then undergo both written and practical assessment to attain the specific standards required to commence working as part of an ABA Therapy Team.

Compulsory Modules:

  • Introduction to ASD (1 hour, Beginning Level)
  • Principles of Behaviour: Reinforcement (2 hours, Beginning Level)
  • Principles of Behaviour: Behaviour Reduction (2 hours, Beginning Level)
  • Functions of Behaviour (2 hours, Intermediate Level)
  • Teaching New Behaviour (2 hours, Beginning Level)
  • Discrete Trial Instruction Part 1 (2 hours, Beginning Level)
  • Discrete Trial Instruction Part 2 (2 hours, Beginning Level)
  • Instructional Control (2 hours, Beginning Level)
  • Consequence Interventions (2 hours, Beginning Level) 
  • Analyzing and Recording Behaviour (2 hours, Intermediate Level)
  • Introduction to Verbal Behaviour (2 hours, Beginning Level)

 

 

Cost: $450.00 per person (incl gst) 

This will include :-

  • 21 hours online training with access for one (1) month to complete
  •  3 hours practical workshop at our premises
  •  6 hours observation training ($10/hr training fee payable to you)
  • Certificate of Completion

 

 

 

 

 


 

WORKSHOP CALENDAR: SHADOW / TEACHER'S AIDE TRAINING

TO BE ADVISED

The Shadow helps the child successfully participate in a school environment.  By generalizing appropriate behaviours and skills previously mastered in a 1:1 setting, the Shadow helps maximize opportunities for learning, socialization and play.

In both the classroom and playground, the Shadow assists the child to interact effectively with other children and teachers.

Course Outline:

  • Purpose and role of a shadow
  • Legal and ethical issues
  • 4 Phases of shadowing
  • Prompting and fading techniques
  • Behaviour management in the classroom
  • Practical component
